But in thewinky state of California, a man can threaten to kill the mother of his children, set fire to the building with his kids inside, be arrested, bonded out the next morning, and then have the DA drop the case. He walks free, and the victim is left to deal with the fear, the strain, and the children with no place to go. Wow-good job California.

Cedar, I would delete "attorneys" from your first paragraph because it is the "judges" and the "legislatures" that set the procedures. Attorney can only work within the procedures that are set.
I am talking about Prosecutors-District Attorneys, who get to decide who gets prosecuted. My point was that even in this day and age, domestic violence and threats are not taken seriously enough. It was not meant as a slam on attorneys, in general, only some prosecutors.
