If It Quacks Like A Duck, It Must Be A Cougar.

What a great Sunday coming up in the world of Seattle sports. The Mariners are in Houston in the last stretch of the season, and only 1/2 game out of the Wild Card Go M's.  Not to be outdone, we have a repeat of last year's  Super Bowel with the always dangerous Denver Broncos arrive in Seattle to wage war with the team that humiliated them last year on the big stage. Can Seahawk magic get it done again?

On Saturday, the WSU Cougars almost pulled off the upset of the century when they went toe to toe with then 2nd ranked and always powerful Oregon Ducks. Unfortunately, the Cougars quacked a bit, and the Ducks swam away with a 38-31  victory. Great game for the Cougars, although there are no moral victories in football.

Meanwhile my Idaho Vandals were in Ohio doing their thing-losing, although the big I are showing much improvement this year even though their record does not show it, yet. Go Vandals!

In the local high school scene, my hometown Wallace Miners crushed Lakeside 66-6 and are 2 and 2 on the season, while the Kellogg Wildcats are off to their usual 0-4 start, losing on Friday to St Maries 28-13. Better luck next weekend Wildcats.

In the Lake City, CDA High continues to shock and awe. These are not your father's Vikings. Across town, Lake City High pulled out a nice win over Shadle from Spokane.

Almost, and well Idaho can't even say 'wait until next year...this is next year'. Oh, if the coach played the quarterback from Cda I would be inclined to cut him/them a little slack. Miners crush...who? Lakeside? Is that 8 man aka track meet? Kellogg--the last football coach to win there was Fred Morris. He was from the 'south' and he brought the veer with him to Kellogg. His biggest player was 180 pounds but they were all tough as nails and...most importantly they were faster than fast. Unfortunately he left, for reasons unknown to me, and apparently moved to Sandpoint but did not coach H.S. football. Oh, Cda...yeah, but back in the day, the Miners beat the Vikings 3 straight 1967, 68 and 69. Lake City...it is nice to see them get back on a roll.
