Here it is, the 2nd of
July already, and we are on the Christmas countdown. Just kidding! However, the
4th of July is almost here, and it is a great time of the year. Christmas
and the 4th of July are the best two holidays in my opinion. The 4th
does something that most days cannot do. It unites most of the nation as one.
Yes, on that one day in July,
Americans gather on beaches, parks, lakes, rivers, campgrounds, and public
squares to eat picnic lunches, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, watermelon, and
whatever delicacies that they enjoy. Then, as the sun sets in the West, and the
shadows of night descend on the face of the earth, we all gather either by the thousands
n the cities, or the hundreds in small towns, or by maybe just a family in their
own backyard, and we all watch the skies light up with the kaleidoscope of dazzling
colors of fireworks.
I don’t know what others may or may
not be feeling at that moment. But for those brief moments, I grow very emotional
as I remember the true greatness of America. I remember that blood that was
shed to form our nation and to buy our liberty, and I am so very proud at that
moment to be a citizen of the greatest country in the history of the world.
