I was dismayed when they started "gentrifying" sections of the Bronx. I was disheartened when they did the same thing to the Central Area of Seattle. I was devastated when they started talking about it in Pioneer Square in Seattle. I mean, where are all of the drunks, druggies, hookers, and pimps supposed to go, for Pete's sake?
But the final unpardonable sin was the detoxification of the sacred institution known as the Lead Creek Derby.
Long known for unmatched public intoxication, unsavory, slimy, dirty, creepy carnival workers, trips upstairs, at least so In have been told, to "houses of ill repute", open pot smoking, cussing, chewing, belching, farting, and screwing, the Lead Creek Derby was the perfect family affair.
Sadly, that is a thing of the past. Here is a quote from the Spokesman about the so called Derby.
"The Lead Creek Derby in years past has had a reputation for drinking and driving, but Gyro Club member Dean Cooper said it’s “nowhere near as rowdy as it used to be.” These days, Cooper said, with the 72-mile bike path, the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, running along the river, most people ride bikes down the trail as they follow the ball."
Wow, first they took away the lead from Lead Creek, They closed most of the mines. The Wallace HS football team has been reduced to not much more than a glorified touch football leauge, and now, and now, say it ain't so, they have forgotten how to drink and drive, and Pa Lease, bicycles?????????????????????
Say it Ain't so.

Cedar: Yep, a sorry state of affairs. I drove by the 'derby' two or three years ago. There was literally no crowd, no one in attendance to be seen anywhere except for about 6 guys on the back of a flat bed truck. Sheez, and now you tell me it is 'bicycle friendly'? Double Sheez.
