Memorial Day Reflections

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. John F Kennedy

After I read this famous quote this morning, I realized that most of the time we that we think that the threat to our liberty will come from another nation. When I was growing up, we lived under the impression that the world could end at any time. My mother, bless her heart, filled my head with thoughts of the ungodly Soviet Union taking control of our country and how they would brainwash or kill all of us if we didn't defeat them

I want to state emphatically, the greatest threat to liberty comes not from Russia, China, North Korea, or Islamic extremists. The greatest threat to our liberty and freedom comes from our apathy as we sit and watch freedom after freedom disappears through legislation, law, and court rulings.

Our freedom is threatened from within our own shores when we allow ourselves to be controlled by the thought police, and we dare not speak our mind.

Our freedom is threatened when we deny others the same freedom of thought and life that we demand ourselves.

Yes, we are always at war, and the greatest war of all comes from within. Are we willing to fight as bravely, as vocally, as committed, as we would if we were engaged in mortal combat? The stakes are just as high, and the war just as real.
