Bar None-Part 1 The "Honorable" Mayor

The movement was sweeping the nation, and West Virginia became the 9th State to put in effect, and could Idaho be far behind?  The answer came soon because before the sun had set on January 1, 1916 Idaho became the unimaginable, a dry State. Yes, Prohibition had won, or at least on the surface it appeared so, but we are not talking about just any old USA town, no sirree, we are talking Wallace, and as we Wallace natives know, Wallace does not play follow the leader very well. After all, we are the center of the Universe, and we do not follow, we lead.

In 1916, Wallace was governed by a very colorful mayor with a very familiar name event to this day, the "Honorable" Herman J Rossi. Now, Mr. Rossi was not just the mayor of Wallace, nope, he was also a boxer, a banker, an investor, a mining company executive, and oh, by the way, did I mention that he was also a murderer? In other words, he could probably run for national office in today's political world he would fit right in.

To be continued
