Being Mayor Isn’t What It Used To Be

I was astounded, taken back, shocked, and vastly disturbed when I discovered that despite the fact that Wallace is not even a shell of the town that is use to be that the prestigious position of being mayor is now a highly coveted position.

As it reported in a previous blog, when I was growing up Wallace, Mayor Keller pretty much ran without opposition. That is no longer the case. in what was a hot contested race this month, Dr. Vester retained his title as King of The Universe, whoops, I  mean Mayor of Wallace.

In the most hotly-contested race in the election, incumbent Wallace Mayor Dick Vester bested challenger John Hansen by just three votes to secure a second term.
Vester received 105 votes in his reelection bid, barely edging past Hansen’s 102 votes. The race came down to absentee ballots, with Vester securing 10 absentee votes to Hansen’s three.

As we know absentee votes have become the key to victory in the state of North Idaho.
I encourage you to round up all of your past acquaintances who ever lived in Burke, visited Burke, worked in Burke, or got drunk in Burke to cast an absentee write in vote for me, The Cedar Street Kid, for the next mayor of Burke.
