I was taught years ago by a very courageous teacher that all wars that the US had ever fought were economic based. When I first heard that, I felt like he and just committed the "unpardonable sin". But, like all good teachers, his message was suppose to make us think and leave the comfort zones of mom, home, and apple pie.
Now, as an adult, I see that he was right. There may have been an exception or two, but most of our wars have been flag draped in the name of democracy and decency, but actually the motives were mostly the twin evils of greed and power.
