Make My Turf Chartuese, and Make It a Double,Please

Boise State University has a been out done when it comes to ugly turfs for the football field. I thought that BSU's blue turf was the ugliest thing to ever disgrace a football field. But no, not to be out done, Eastern Washington University is in the process of installing a RED, yes, you see it right, a red turf! Holy Cow, what is the world coming to? What is next?

Well, Kellogg and Mullan could put down purple turf, and Wallace could put down some black turf, or maybe even red and black turf. Post Falls could install orange turf, and St Maries could put down, well, green.

The most practical color of all would be Chartreuse, a color halfway between green and yellow, Now, the beauty of this color is that it serves a double duty, Chartreuse is also a French liqueur made by the Carthusian Monks in the 1740's

Cedar: Blue and Red turfs...egad! I agree. I was always fond of Wallace's green grass (although it did turn to mud and sawdust by midseason). As far as Kellogg, well I was never particularly fond of its 'dirt' colored field. I guess there was not much that could be done about it, given that dirt is dirt colored. HA!

Yep, Kellogg was a little ugly before they redid it

Thanks for being a loyal reader. Looks like all of the others are gone.

Cedar: Its just summertime. If I had a life away from work I wouldn't be checking in all the time. Ha. They are there, just not taking time to respond. Kind of like my buddies at the NSC...they are there but behind the scenes. Take the time when I rolled 'Charlie' off Fernan mountain. Our insurance agent, next door neighbor (home and office) just happened to be camped about 100 yards from where we went off the road. Coincidence...next door neighbor at home and work, and camped 100 yards from where we rolled off the mountain...me thinks not. Ha.

EWU competes in Division 1-AA so they don’t do the bowl thing. They were a playoff team last year, are ranked this year and have a number of players in the NFL. Roos with the Titans, Nichols with the Cowboys and Overbay with the Broncos. Since the announcement, EWU a small regional university has had articles done on the field in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and ESPN. I heard today that the webcam they have has over 1.4 million hits. If the turf were green, none of this happens. Though a WSU fan, I wish EWU well. If you go to their website, you will see Colin Cowherd of ESPN selling season tickets! Again, all because of the RED.

Anonymous, thanks for you comment. I know EWU football well, and have attended games in the past. They have a fine program. I am a traditionalist when it comes to sports, and will agree to disagree with you that football fields should be green. I wish EWU and WSU great success this year.
