Deer oh Deer

It was one of those moments, you know the kind,  a sudden gift appearing right in front of you, wrapped decoratively in bright paper and ribbons. These gifts are the rewards for living in the beautiful Idaho Panhandle. It has happened to us before, when we least expect it, but even though we don't expect it at that moment, we are aware on some level that it could happen, because these things are what we are desiring to see.

We love to go down to Fernan Lake and just sit and watch. On a good day, I can get out of the car and walk about 100 feet or so. On a not so good day, I can still sit in the car and observe the ducks paddling,, the geese honking, and the occasional osprey swooping in for a tasty fish dinner.

Today, we decided to drive around the lake for a bit since we have not done so for awhile. Although fairly uneventful, it was breathtakingly beautiful, as always. As we were coming back into the tiny  village of Fernan, we looked over and lying quietly in the grass was a doe. I stopped the car, and we just sat and watched. Since she was not moving except for the twitching of her ears, I was afraid that maybe she had a broken leg. At that moment, my wife spotted some movement in the bushes, and to our delight, two fawns came out and started nursing. We sat in awe as nature was  unfolding on all of her splender right before our eyes. What a privilege to live in such an area. Every time that I consider moving back to the city, I think of these things, these serendipities,I thank God for His creations.

Choosing Your Belief System

" Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe it simply because it is spoken and
rumored by many, or merely on the authority of your teachers
and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that
anything agrees with reason, then accept it and live up to it.'

English 101- An assignment

Word fads. Gosh, I hate them. Are there any original thinkers left in the world? In a society where people put so much stock on being an individual, it is certainly ironic that so many merely parrot words or phrases that they hear and then think that they are "so cool" for saying them.Ones that particularly offend me are.

1.Throw under the bus-

2.Bring to the table-

3.Drink the kool aid-

The assignment is to use these "cutesy" phrases in a sentence.

The winning entry will receive a soooooooo cool prize that you will want to bring it to the table, drink the kool aid from it,but if it does not taste good, well, just throw it under the bus.
